Karen I. Goodno's Obituary
Karen I. Goodno, age 74, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born on June 27, 1948, in Muskegon to Peter and Isabel (LaDuke) VanHassel. On October 19, 1968, she married Thomas A. Goodno at St. Francis Church in Conklin. Karen was a homemaker, and after raising her family, she began working for Chester Township serving as the clerk from 1984 to 1997. She then went on to work at Spoelman, Hovingh, and Feldt, Inc., in Coopersville, and Choice One Bank, Ravenna Branch, before retiring. She was a member of the Ravenna American Legion, serving on the Board for many years. Karen was very involved in the Ravenna community, volunteering in many organizations. She took great pride in giving back and helping those in need. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Goodno; her children, Troy (Melanie) Goodno, Tracy (Andrew) Anderson, Tonya (Joseph) Fritz, Ted (Jamilyn) Goodno; grandchildren Rebecca (Evan) Vanderkolk, John, Adam, Ryan Goodno, Kate, Lilly Anderson, and Collin Fritz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lloyd and Brenda Goodno, sister-in-law Sandy Rollenhagen, and several loving nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Isabel VanHassel, brother Gregory VanHassel, father-in-law and mother-in-law Lloyd and Lucille Goodno, and brother-in-law Seth Rollenhagen. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 28, 2023, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Ravenna. The Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 PM on Friday, January 27, 2023, followed by visitation from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas Street, Ravenna, MI 49451. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass at St. Catherine’s Church. Interment will take place at St. Catherine’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at The Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice for the care and support they provided Karen and the family.
