Karen M. Silva's Obituary
Karen Marie Silva, age 81, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Sunday, October 29, 2023. She was born in Muskegon on February 18, 1942, to Valdemar and Rosalie (Kurdelski) Jensen. Karen received her associate degree in business and went on to work for some years as an administrative assistant in California before her children were born. Karen had a strong Catholic faith who consistently went to Mass throughout her life, and she was most recently a member at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Muskegon. She belonged to Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she served as a secretary for many years. She had a passion for volunteering, offering many hours of her time to serve others at Mercy Hospital. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Gregory Silva, Christopher Silva, and Laura Mauer; one grandchild; three siblings: Thomas (Linda) Jensen, Fredrick (Shirley) Jensen, and Lois (Ferrel) Cordle; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valdemar and Rosalie Jensen; the father of her children: Alban Silva; and four siblings: Richard “Dick” Jensen, Marva Mueller, Theodore “Ted” Jensen, and Jerry Jensen. A FUNERAL MASS will be taking place for Karen at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 3, 2023, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1716 6th St, Muskegon, MI, 49441, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial contribution to HealthWest or Lake Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
