Karl F. Janowski's Obituary
Karl F. Janowski, Sr. 88, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and family on January 26, 2018.
Visitation will be held in the chapel at St. Francis de Sales Church 2929 McCracken Avenue, Norton Shores, MI 49441 on Friday, February 2nd from 9:45 to 10:45am followed by a Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00am.
Karl was born February 7, 1929 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin to Anton and Christina (Karl) Janowski. He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1947 and Aquinas College in 1973. On February 9, 1948 he married the former Maxine Mezzetti Corinti in Muskegon, Michigan at Our Lady of Grace Church. Karl started his career as the manager at the Michigan Theatre. He spent 18 years as an Industrial Engineer at Brunswick Corporation and ultimately retired from Lift Tech Corporation. He taught Motion and Time Study at Muskegon Community College and Western Michigan University and was active with the Knights of Columbus, the Society of Industrial Engineers, and the Cursillo movement. Karl was also instrumental in the development and building of the new St. Francis de Sales church in 1964.
Karl is survived by his wife Maxine of 70 years, daughter Christine (Bill) Janowski-Warren, daughter Dilly Cavanagh, daughter-in-law Debbie Janowski, daughter Karla (Steve) Janowski-Rhodea, daughter Janice (Mark) Sesselmann, son Tony (Joan) Janowski and Andy (Eric) Janowski, 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Karl enjoyed a very close and loving relationship with his wife Maxine, always at each other’s side, and only apart when he was at Chapel on Thursday afternoons and while keeping his mind sharp while playing bridge. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always eager to talk about his family and happy to travel to see them. Karl inspired his children to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Karl loved playing afternoon duplicate bridge at Norton Shores Library and his Wednesday night bi-monthly men’s bridge group.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Christina, his brother Orville Janis and his son, Karl F. Janowski, Jr.
