Karl K. Johnson's Obituary
Mr. Karl K. Johnson, age 84, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Muskegon. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI to R.K. and Ruth (Holloway) Johnson, and resided in the area all of his life. Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He received a Purple Heart for being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Johnson was a member of Calvary Church, and an avid fisherman taking his sons on many fishing trips. He owned and operated U.S. 31 Motor Sales for 30 years, and after retiring worked summers in Alaska for 11 years in his sons fishing business. On November 22, 1950 he married the former Joyce Visger, and she survives him along with 4 sons, James (Ruth) Johnson of Alaska, Donald Johnson of Alaska, Thomas (Norma) Johnson of Twin Lake; and Patrick (Cristina) Johnson of Alaska; 8 grandchildren, Craig (girlfriend, Christina), Holly (Ryan), Joshua, Jonathon, Shania, Isaac and Rachel. SERVICES will be 12:30PM Monday at Calvary Church (5873 Kendra) with Pastor Terry Fulk officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. Burial will take place in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Calvary Church Building Fund will be appreciated.
