Mrs. Karoline G. Sugin, age 91, died early Thursday morning, September 18, 2003. She was born February 29, 1912 in Bremen, Germany to Fredrick and Josephine (Liemmebeck) Köster and came to the United States in August of 1954. Mrs. Sugin had owned and operated Gretchen’s Catering for over 20 years, worked at Hosler’s, and for Steve Militech Tailoring. She belonged to the German Birthday Club, loved cooking and arts & crafts, enjoyed going for short trips in the car, and loved her flower and vegetable gardens. On April 11, 1931 she married Herrmann Ernst Cassau in Verden Alle, Germany and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1945. She then married Milivoy Sugin on September 4, 1953 and he preceded her in death on September 19, 1995. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Gertrude (Siegfreid) Werner of Norton Shores, Vivian (Rodney) Baird, Jr. of Newaygo; son, Stephan (Theresa) Sugin of Muskegon; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Ernst (Gayle) Cassau; 2 granddaughters, Sonja Slater and Renate Brown; 1 sister; 1 half-brother; and 2 half-sisters. with the Rev. Fr. Michael Olson officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-9 PM this evening and one hour prior to the service Saturday morning. The rosary will be prayed 8:00 PM this evening at the funeral home. Donations to the family will be appreciated.
