Karyl Shantz's Obituary
Karyl Shantz, 61 of Wyoming, MI, left this earthly world for paradise with her Savior on Sunday, February 6th, 2022. She was born October 19th,1960, to Richard and Madonna (Bischofberger) Shantz in Evanston, Illinois. She graduated from Davenport College and worked in insurance for many years. Karyl was an adventurous spirit with a heart of gold. Anyone who met Karyl knew they had the good fortune of knowing a very special and unique person. She traveled and lived all over the country. During her travels she enjoyed capturing her memories through photography and was able to share these memories with those she loved through her pictures. With her love of the ocean, Karyl became a certified scuba diver and was able to enjoy this activity many times on her travels. Among her many talents, Karyl had an unbelievable green thumb and could make anything grow and flourish. It was very evident however, that she was always most happy spending time with her family and friends. She was the bright light at any gathering, and she was loved so very much. She is survived by her father Richard (Dolores) Shantz of Orlando, FL; 3 sisters, Linda (Scott) Miller of Battle Creek, MI, Barbara (Norm) Langlois of Muskegon, MI, Deb (Andrew) Gross of Chicago, Il; 3 brothers Bill (Lee Ann) of Kalamazoo, MI, Bob (Cindy) Shantz of Phoenix, AZ and Dan Shantz of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews who would tell you Karyl was undoubtedly the “cool” aunt! She became a second mom to many of them through her love and undeniable spirit for life. She had 4 special great nephews, Isaac, Logan, Emmett, and Eli, who were the light of her life and gave her immeasurable joy. She was preceded in death by her mother, Madonna; and brother, Joseph, who she now joins in paradise.
