Katharine E. Sierminski's Obituary
Katharine E. Sierminski, age 89, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Heartwood Lodge in Spring Lake. She was born August 24, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Francis W. and Jane G. (Jackson) Mossett and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. On June 26, 1954, she married Arthur V. Sierminski in Detroit. Katharine earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Aquinas College and was a teacher for the Muskegon Catholic Schools for 10 years. She later worked as a substitute teacher for Muskegon Public Schools and Mona Shores Public Schools. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was active with the ladies guild. Katharine was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge, traveling with Arthur and visiting the casinos. She also loved baking and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was her grandkids and great-grandkids. Katharine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arthur Sierminski of Norton Shores; 5 children, James (Kathleen Dawson) Sierminski of Chicago, IL, Thomas Sierminski of Racine, WI, David (Patty) Sierminski of Jacksonville, FL, Ellen (Jeff) Stamy of Houston, TX, Jeanne (Kenneth) Wilson of Dothan, AL; 9 grandchildren, Evan Sierminski, Bryan Sierminski, Marikathryn Sierminski, Elizabeth Sierminski, Sara (Zulfiqar) Baig, David Wilson, Laura Stamy, Kathryn (Reese) Vela, Adam Sierminski; and 3 great-grandchildren, Aydin Baig, Noah Baig, and Owen Vela. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Rev. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Muskegon Rescue Mission or the American Cancer Society.
