Katherine Holwerda's Obituary
Mrs. Katherine Holwerda, age 99, went to be with her Lord early Friday morning, September 21, 2007, in Muskegon. She was born April 5, 1908 in Muskegon to Joseph & Anna (Hemmes) Kleeves and had been a life resident. Katherine had been employed in the office at Sealed Power prior to her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and had formerly been active with its Ladies Aid and choir. Katherine was a loving mother and grandmother who always placed God first and then others before herself. On June 11, 1937 she married John Holwerda and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kathlyn Holwerda, her great-granddaughter, Daryn Worpel; her brother, Raymond Kleeves and by her sister, Gertrude Barkman. SURVIVORS include 1 son, Mark (Karen) Holwerda and 1 daughter, Ruthanne Erickson, of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Lynda Holwerda, Todd (Laura) Holwerda, Marcia (Dan) Smith, Bryan Holwerda, Debbie Erickson, Dawn (John) Stevens and Kimberly (Joseph) Worpel; and 11 great-grandchildren. SERVICES will be held 1 PM Monday, September 24th at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231-726-5210 with Pastor Mike Borgert officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Katherine’s family will be one-hour prior to the service. MEMORIAL GIFTS to Muskegon Christian School will be appreciated.
