Katherine T. Schmitt's Obituary
Katherine T. Schmitt, age 92, passed away on Monday September 28, 2015. Katherine was born on April 13, 1923 in Myslavia, Czechoslovakia to Martin and Katherine Hanis. She came to the United States in 1929 and settled in Muskegon. She married Robert Schmitt on June 29th, 1946. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; son James; granddaughter Jennifer; and brother, Joseph. Katherine is survived by her children; Loretta (Mike) Hyde of Grand Haven, Joseph (Gloria) Schmitt of Muskegon, Mary (Ron) Turrell of Muskegon, Janet (Ron) Bartz of Byron Center and Kathleen (Scott) Riedel of Muskegon; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; and her sister Irene (Edward) Sanocki of Muskegon. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held on Friday October 2, 2015 at 11AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 150 E Summit Ave. VISITATION will be held on Thursday from 5-8pm with a rosary beginning at 7:30 pm at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Muskegon Catholic Central.
