Mrs. Katherine Irene UpDyke's Obituary
Mrs. Katherine Irene Updyke, age 74, passed away early Saturday morning, March 21, 2014, at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence, surrounded by her family. Katherine was born November 28, 1939 in Toledo, OH to Ephram and Violet (Harris) Amos. On August 2, 1957, she married Lyman Paul UpDyke, Sr. and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1989. Katherine was wonderful, kind hearted mother who would never turn anyone down. She loved playing cards and doing arts and crafts. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Lyman Paul UpDyke, Jr. of Columbia, SC, William UpDyke of Muskegon, Brenda (David) Stidham of Muskegon, and Harley Ephram UpDyke of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Jay Amos of California; 2 sisters, Helen Green of Chattanooga, TN and Joanne Ferris of Muskegon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Katherine was also preceded in death by her son, Steven UpDyke Sr.; sisters, Carrie DeMoe, Fern Edler, and Dorothy Porter; and brothers, Ephram and Bill Amos. A MEMORIAL GATHERING will be held this Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2014 from 3-6 PM at Papa Bear’s Restaurant 2280 E.
