Kathleen Marie "Kathy" Burr's Obituary
Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Burr, age 87, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Hospital. She was born February 10, 1939 in Muskegon to Richard S. and Helen M. (Hagan) Drushall and was a lifelong resident of the area. Kathy married Ralph Burr on October 27, 1956 and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2021. Prior to retiring in 1993, Kathy worked as a bookkeeper for Sears & Roebuck Stores for 21 years. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a leader of the altar guild and taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was a current member of Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church. Kathy also volunteered with No More Sidelines and was a former member of the Vikings Lodge. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, cooking and baking – especially baking many birthday cakes over the years. She was the cheerleader for her kids and grandkids sporting events. She also loved the time she could spend traveling with Ralph to places like Ireland and Alaska. Survivors include 7 children, Jeff (Kim) Burr, Jackie Burr, Julie Burr, Janet (David) Bates, Joe Burr, Judy Burr, Jill (Oscar) Hernandez; 8 grandchildren, David (Michelle) Bates Jr, Chris (Ally) Bates, Daniel Burr, Joseph (Lauren) Burr II, Rachel Burr, Philipe Hernandez, Wade (Stacy) VandenBosch, Johna (Jonathan) Hansen; and several great grandchildren; and her sister, Marilyn “Mimi” Fethke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Burr; her grandsons, Matthew Burr and Oscar Hernandez, Jr; her great grandson, Emmitt Hansen; and her parents, Richard and Helen Drushall. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Rev. Jack Ferra officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Monday, March 16, 2026 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
