Kathleen Ann Engle's Obituary
Mrs. Kathleen Ann Engle, age 77, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan on July 5, 1941 to Robert Percy (Pete) Richardson and Mary (Fleda) (Garoughty) Richardson. Kathy was employed for many years in the traffic department of Bennett Pump Company, before a mid-life change of careers in 1985. She and her husband began operating Willow Ridge Farm, a horse boarding stable in Norton Shores, in October of that year. Kathy was an excellent and knowledgeable horsewoman who dearly loved riding, showing and caring for her many charges over the years. She also loved caring for her yard and her many flowers as well as the many varieties of trees she and her husband planted around the yard. Kathy is survived by her husband of 52 years, David (Dave) Engle. She was preceded in death by her older sister, Thelma Kennedy of the Upper Peninsula and her older brother, John (Jack) Harden of California. Kathy has pledged a gift to the Nature Conservancy, a global environmental organization headquartered in Virginia. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 25, at 2 pm at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, 231-798-1100. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 24, from 5-7 pm. Memorial Contributions in Kathy’s memory may be made to the West Michigan Spay and Neuter Clinic of Fruitport.
