Kathleen J. "Kay" Goodwin's Obituary
Kathleen Joan “Kay” Goodwin, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 14, 2015, at Seminole Shores after a short illness. She was born February 6, 1929 in Muskegon, Michigan, the second of three children born to Wilbur and Beatrice (Thompson) Springsdorf. She was a lifelong member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and Charity Circle, and belonged to the Vikings Linne Lodge 57 and the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274, as well as the long-time Neighborhood Birthday Club. On July 29, 1950 she married the love of her life, Richard E. “Dick” Goodwin. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 18, 2009. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Richard “Rick” (Debra) Goodwin of Custer, MI, Janice “Jan” (John) Faulman of Alpena, MI, and Lori (Jerry) Goodwin-Riley of Calabash, NC; 5 grandchildren: Sara (Gene Coffey) Faulman, Angela Goodwin, Devon (Christopher) Faulman-Baldwin, Andrew Goodwin, Aaron Goodwin; 5 great-grandchildren: Harrison Baldwin, Colton Baldwin, Greyden Baldwin, Parker Faulman, and Dylan Faulman; sister, Beverly Primmer of Muskegon; sisters-in-law: Virginia (Robert) Reynolds of Muskegon, and Maurine (Don) Cordes of Grand Haven; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Springsdorf. Kay was an amazing woman, wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and her many winters in Ft. Meyers, FL, playing golf and walking the beach in the warm sunshine with Dick. She lovingly cooked and baked for her family and wide circle of friends and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Kay will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 18, 2015 at Lakeside United Methodist Church (2160 Crozier) with Rev. Don Graham officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the church. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association – Jump Rope for Heart (1771 Whitfield Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49506).
