Kathleen E. Joy's Obituary
Kathleen E. Joy passed away April 25, 2015. She was born in Hillsdale, MI on October 21, 1921, to Harry Corlett and Helen Cordelia (Stayner) Kewin. She married W. William Joy on July 27, 1946 in Owosso, MI. She was a graduate of Owosso High School and attended the Owosso Business Institute. She had been employed as a secretary at the Ann Arbor Railroad in Owosso and the First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon, retiring in 1985. Kathleen was a member of First Presbyterian Church; a life member of Abigail Chapter No. 206 of the Order of the Eastern Star; the Steuben County Genealogical Society, Angola, IN; and the Muskegon County Genealogical Society. Survivors include her son, Charles W. (Marcy) Joy of Whitehall; step-son, Edward F. (Peggy) Joy of Owosso; grandchildren, Ryan D. Joy and fiancée Molly Mathie of Minnetonka, MN, Laura K. (Jeffery) Dault of Muskegon, William E. Joy of Owosso; great grandchildren, Jared and Allison Dault; sister, Mona Hilden-Beckwith of Marshall; brother, George R. Kewin of Canoga Park, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, W. William Joy on December 27, 1987; her brother, Jack D. Kewin on April 2, 1929; and her sister-in-law, Natalie Kewin in June of 2006. Kathleen spent the last years of her life at Bush Creek Manor in Whitehall, receiving compassionate care from the entire staff and finally from Mercy VNS and Hospice Services. Memorial contributions may be made to the W. William and Kathleen E. Joy Fund at the Community Foundation for Muskegon County or to the First Presbyterian Church in Muskegon. A Celebration of Life gathering for friends and family will take place at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. in Norton Shores on Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 12pm to 2pm.
