Kathleen "Kathy" Gage's Obituary
Mrs. Kathleen “Kathy” (Rives) Gage, age 69, of Spring Lake passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was born February 26, 1947 in Detroit to Kent and Lillian Rives and married Edward “Tony” Gage Jr. on September 13, 1968. She is survived by her husband and her two children, Jennifer (Nick) Bock of Tustin, CA, and Edward (Amy) Gage III of Fort Collins, CO. Kathy adored her four grandchildren, Cameron, Evan, Benjamin, and Juliana, whom they affectionately referred to as “Gigi”. Kathy graduated from Michigan State University in 1968 and worked briefly prior to starting her family.
Kathy had many dear friends, both in the Detroit area where she grew up and raised her children, and her Spring Lake home of the last 25 years. She especially loved spending time with her friends in book club and birthday wine groups and walking her dog with a group called the “walkers”. Kathy loved to travel to visit the grandchildren with her husband and enjoyed many family outings throughout the country. Active in local charities, she loved her West Michigan community.
A celebration of life will be held at the Spring Lake Country Club starting at 12:00 pm Sunday, June 12, 2016, and all friends are cordially invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy’s name can be made to the People Center (http://www.thepeoplecenter.org/) and Hospice of North Ottawa Community (https://supportnochs.org/hospice/).
