Mrs. Kathleen M. Sass' Obituary
Mrs. Kathleen M. Sass, 89, passed away Friday evening, March 17, 2017, in Muskegon. She was born February 19, 1928 to John L. and Mary (Buckley) Halloran in Muskegon, and lived here most of her life. Kathleen had a Master’s degree in Education and devoted her life for “Others.” She was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was the head of the Church’s prayer chain for 30 years. She was also involved with the Cursillo ministry, Michigan Right to Life, the March of Dimes, and many other philanthropic causes. On June 25, 1955, she married Anthony “Tony” Sass, and he survives her along with 3 children, Mary Angela Austin, Terrence L. Sass, Margaret “Peg” (Terry) Simon; granddaughter, Laura Simon; step grandchildren Amy (John) Gongalski, Adam (Jenny) Simon, Amy (Mary) Simon; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Marcella Kammers; and brother, John (Joy) Halloran. She was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, March 21, from 5:30-8 p.m. at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, (231) 759-8565, with the Rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. A memorial service for Mrs. Sass will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Right to Life of Michigan or the Spring Lake Lions’ Hearing Aid Program for the underprivileged.
