Kathleen Sheffer's Obituary
Kathleen Sheffer, age 90, passed away in Muskegon, MI on October 5, 2021. She was born on November 9, 1930, to her parents, William and Irene (Smithwick) Dial. After graduating from Muskegon High School, she went on to work as a nurse at North Shore Hospital in North Muskegon and later at Brookhaven Medical Care Facility. On August 3, 1951, she married Douglas Sheffer, who preceded her in death in 1994. Kathleen was a very independent woman who always spoke her mind. She loved to read her Bible as well as any other book that she could get her hands on. She could often be found listening to the music of the Gaither Vocal Band. Many people were important to Kathleen, but none more so than her children and grandchildren. Kathleen is lovingly remembered by her two children: Brian (Phyllis) Sheffer and Denise Wilson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two sisters in-law, Wilma Sheffer and Alice Dial. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Douglas; daughter, Connie Kanauff; Brother, James Dial; and sister, Katherine Helf. A memorial service for Kathleen will be taking place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Evanston Baptist Church (1188 Evanston Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442). In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen’s memory can be made out to Evanston Baptist Church, specifically for their Summer Camp Program.
