Kathleen "Kathy" Sims' Obituary
Kathleen “Kathy” Sims, age 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed on to be with her Lord on October 2, 2019 with her family at her side. Kathy was born July 15, 1930 in Muskegon to John and Agnes (VanDyke) Broek. She worked at Earle Press until she married the love of her life, Garnett “Bud” Sims on August 14, 1948. Kathy was filled with wit and humor, and always had an infectious laugh that lit up the room. She was a hard worker who always made sure her yard and home were in immaculate condition. Kathy and Bud enjoyed numerous bus trips across the country until his passing in 1994. She was a gospel singer who touched many people’s hearts with her “angelic” singing voice. Kathy also enjoyed coloring and word search books. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: David (Sally) Sims, Brenda (Tim) Jones, and Kevin Sims; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. SERVICES for Kathy will be held 1:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-9 PM Thursday, October 3, 2019. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
