Kathleen M. “Cathi” “Mimi” VanDonkelaar, age 67, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024 at U of M Health–West in Wyoming, MI. She was born December 24, 1956 in Muskegon to Donald and Janet (Corpe) Burrous and lived in the area most of her life. Cathi married Terry L. VanDonkelaar on May 2, 1980 in Muskegon. She worked in childcare for over 30 years, and was currently working as the Childcare Director for the last 8 years at Little Hands Learning Center of Living Word Muskegon. Cathi was a very active and contributing member at Living Word Muskegon and will be hard to replace in her many roles at the church. Survivors include her loving husband, Terry VanDonkelaar; 5 children, Ben (Shannon) VanDonkelaar, Rev. Brandon (Kelli) VanDonkelaar, Brent (Val Carlson) VanDonkelaar, Blake (Ashley) VanDonkelaar, Bethany (Logan) Hough; she was “Mimi” to 14 grandchildren, Cody, Zachary, Bella, Taylor, Briden, Norah, Lennon, Wilder, Zion, Judah, Wyatt, Zoe, Levi, Zeelia; her mother, Janet (Norm) Priest; and her 4 sisters, Janell (Fred) Reichert, Cheryl (David) Elliott, Carol (Brad) Whittum, Julie (Roger) Martin. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Burrous. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Living Word Muskegon, 1551 Wood Street, Muskegon, MI 49442, with Rev. Tim Cross and Rev. Brandon VanDonkelaar officiating. Visitation will also be held at Living Word Muskegon 5-8 PM Monday and 10-11 AM Tuesday. Interment will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Hope Project, 1516 Peck Street, Muskegon, MI 49441.
