What an unfortunate and sad tragedy. Kathy was so beautiful and nice. I graduated with her from Muskegon High School in 1970. She was very popular and I never got to know her very well then. But at our last reunion in 2005, she & Marsha sat at our table. She talked a lot about her life, but was interested in ours too. I'm so glad I got the chance to spend even that little bit of time with her and wish I could've known her more. She was so beautiful and fun and vivacious. To have all that just taken away--so sad. Kathy and I knew each other for a long time and maybe did not always see each other but when we did it was like yesterday when we hung out together and getting into all kinds of fun!! She had a great personality and style all her own. When she was at Michigan State her apt was my home on the weekends and have great memories from those years. I will miss Kathy greatly but I know that she is in Heaven planning to up the ante of fun up there with Jesus and her all friends who may have gone before. Kathy was such a neat neighbor. She was over the night before her untimely death, laughing, joking and telling stories. She was so full of life and had a good heart. The summer will not be the same without an over-the-fence quick exchange and a treat for Jack. Our hearts goes out to the family. Be sure she is in a better place smiling down on us all. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family members and friends of Kathy Kalavitz (Bernard). Our hearts are deeply saddened to have learned about Kathy. I want to let everyone how great full I am to have known and worked with Kathy for over the past 20 years. We first competed when she worked as a sales rep for Motorola; we then worked together in developing a paging company known as T-COM. After that came the mobile telephones that were mounted in our vehicles. Then came the Nextel Cellular Revolution and Kathy had provided me with so much support & encouragement; she was such an inspiration to many; a great leader and a true friend. I am so sad to hear about Kathy's passing. She was always so happy to see her friends and was incredibly generous. I worked with Kathy at Nextel. She was always interested in your life, especially stories about the kids. She was always upbeat and would brighten your day.
