Mrs. Kathlyn "Kathy" Niemeyer's Obituary
Kathlyn Niemeyer went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 13, 2018. She was born on April 9, 1930 to Leslie and Marie (Schuitema) Fonger in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church for 69 years. She was involved with the Hearts to Hands ministry, the Ladies Bible Study, and participated in many other activities during her 69 year membership. She also volunteered at Hackley Hospital for 25 years. She married Robert Niemeyer and they celebrated 69 years together. Survivors include her husband Bob; children: Mary (Gord) VanderSlice, Mark (Kathryn) Niemeyer, Anne (Ed) VanGrouw; grandchildren: Tonya VanderSlice, Amy (Case) McCalla, Julie (Mark) Damstra, Scott (Sara) VanGrouw, Lisa (Dave) Heida, Laura (Nate) Stenquist; great-grandchildren: Hannah and Elizabeth VanderSlice, Emily, Megan and Will McCalla, Aiden, Evie and Jordon Damstra, Jamin and Nicole VanGrouw, Ryan and Annalise Heida, Cody and Dylan Stenquist; 1 sister: Char (Tim) Larsen; in-laws: Glenn (Betty) Niemeyer and Jean Smit. Kathy was preceded in death by her grandson: Chris VanderSlice; her parents; 2 brothers: Chuck and John Fonger; and sister-in-law: Betty Fonger. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 16, at 11:00 AM at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Avenue. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
