Kathlyn "Bunny" Kuzma's Obituary
Mrs. Kathlyn “Bunny” Kuzma, age 95, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 at home. She was born in Muskegon on August 22, 1913 to George and Mary (Schneidt) Gelakosky and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1931 and attended Junior College in Muskegon and Chicago. She was a charter member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines. Bunny was a stay at home mom and raised five children. On July 9, 1935 she married Michael Kuzma, of Calumet, MI. He was one of Muskegon’s early hockey players, who played for the “Port City Sailors” at The Mart. Her hobbies were knitting, sewing, dancing, bicycle riding, volleyball, playing Scrabble and Cryptograms. She spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and worked on PTA. Survivors include, 2 sons, Michael (Mary) Kuzma, Jr., Mark (Connie) Kuzma; 3 daughters, Mary (Jim) Hively, Patricia (Craig) Thompson, Kathleen (David) Grimm; 8 grandsons, John (Diane) Kuzma, Daniel (Tina) Kuzma, Jeremy Hively, Brian, Rob, Michael, David, and Patrick Thompson and 4 great-grandchildren, Ian, Mikee, Jacob and Ellyana. She is also survived by 1 sister, Mary Gelakosky and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael in 1992; 3 sisters, Helen, Bernice and Evelyn, and 1 brother Louis Gelakosky. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church Marian Chapel. Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 PM, Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Michigan and American Lung Association of Michigan. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
