Mrs. Kathryn A. (Schmucker) Frantz's Obituary
Mrs. Kathryn A. (Schmucker) Frantz, age 74, passed away very suddenly on Monday, March 18, 2013. She was born July 23, 1938 in Nappanee, IN to Harvey and Mattie (Yoder) Schmucker and lived in the Muskegon area the past 21 years. Kathryn married Stephen A. Frantz on September 8, 1956 in White Cloud, MI and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2012. Kathryn was a proud homemaker raising a family of 10 children and sold Avon Cosmetics for a time during those years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and had baked many pies over the years for funeral luncheons and fund raisers. Kathryn enjoyed knitting, crocheting and tending to her flower gardens. She was also known to fish for bluegills at Anchor Marina, a place her husband re-built and operated during their retirement years. SURVIVORS include 9 children, Doug (Christine) Frantz of Coopersville, Kevin (Patricia) Frantz of Charlotte, NC, Theresa (Robert) Bunek of Lake Leelanau, Monica (Patrick) Galla of Norton Shores, Christina (Robert) Newman of Lowell, Valerie Phelps of Coopersville, Veronica (Kevin) Schumaker of Coopersville, Scott Frantz of Paris, TN, Brigette Frantz of Alexandria, VA; 23 grandchildren and 2 great-granchildren; 1 sister, Barbara Lovell of Davison, MI; and 1 brother-in-law, Donald Swanson of Wyoming, MI. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lynnette (Frantz) Mick one month ago; her son-in-law, Joseph Phelps; and 1 brother-in-law, Clayton Lovell. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, White Cloud, MI. VISITATION will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thursday evening. VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Friday at church.
