Kathryn Ruth "Kitty" Vriesman's Obituary
Kathryn Ruth “Kitty” Vriesman, age 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Muskegon, MI. She was born May 20, 1927, to Harry and Tressa (Hartman) Dutmer, in Muskegon, MI. On September 20, 1949, she married Sherman Vriesman, and they were able to spend 63 years together before his passing on April 9, 2013.
Kathryn had a passion for reading and enjoyed time in the sun and at the beach. She lived out her faith and served others by volunteering many hours at International Aid and making quilts for Veterans and those less fortunate. She would also quite often have one of her favorite books by her side, the Bible. Kathryn used her seamstress skills, and every year she would make the grandchildren pajamas as Christmas gifts. She was an avid baker and known for her delicious cream puffs. Kathryn loved to be with her family, especially the grandchildren, and was not afraid to offer to babysit or help in some way. Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Kathryn will be dearly missed by her children, Jim (Debbie) Vriesman, Marsha (Daniel, deceased) Seaver, Marijo (Jim) Lorenz and Doug (Sheryl) Vriesman; 18 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, Sherman, she was preceded in death by her parents; infant great-grandson, Gabriel; brother, Marty Dutmer; and sisters, Alice Sweet and Mary Veeneman.
A private family graveside service will take place. Memorial Contributions in honor of Kathryn may be directed to Harbor Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (6291 Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444).
