Kathryn "Jean" DeBoer's Obituary
Kathryn Jean DeBoer, age 88, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, September 24, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at the Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon. She was born January 25, 1919, in Muskegon, MI, to Henry and Jennie (Dutmer) Hartman, and she married Cornelius J. DeBoer on October 8, 1943, in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1991.
Mrs. DeBoer graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and was a member of Westwood Reformed Church. She was formerly employed as an outpatient registration clerk at North Ottawa Community Hospital.
Survivors include five daughters: Ruth (Bill) Knight, Jan (Johnnie) Burrell-DeBoer, Nancy (Jim) Tomczyk, Kathy (Phil) McHenry, and Mary Ramos; two sons: Vern (Amy) DeBoer and Mark (Marianne) DeBoer; twelve grandchildren; a sister, June (Bob) Swart; and three brothers: Earl, Art, and Al (Marlene) Hartman. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vern; a son, Neil; and a grandson, Scott.
The service for Mrs. DeBoer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Westwood Reformed Church, 3025 Glenside Blvd., Muskegon, with Rev. Dave Willerup officiating. Friends may meet the family 6-9 p.m. on Friday, September 28, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scott E. DeBoer Memorial Fund at the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.
