Kathryn "Kitty" Grace VanOordt's Obituary
Kathryn “Kitty” Grace VanOordt, 87, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday November 1, 2011 at a local care facility. She was born June 12, 1924, in Grand Haven to Jacob and Henrietta (Bus) Achterhof. She was married to Mr. Wesley Eugene VanOordt on September 19, 1941, in Midland, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2006.
Kathryn worked at Achterhof Variety Store as a sales clerk for numerous years. She was a member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Grand Haven.
She is lovingly remembered by two sons, David (Karen) VanOordt of Norton Shores, and Terrence (Vicki) VanOordt of Casper, WY; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean (Henry) Prys of Grand Haven; three brothers: Kenneth (Shirley) Achterhof of Grand Haven, Alvin (Effie) Achterhof of Murietta Springs, CA, and Jacob (Jan) Achterhof of Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan and Harriet Achterhof; and a brother, Harold Achterhof.
