Kathy L. "Kat" Elam's Obituary
Mrs. Kathy L. “Kat” Elam, age 59, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016, at her home in Fruitport. She was born on April 19, 1957, in Muskegon, Michigan to Henry and Leda (Kushner) Kennert and was a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area. On January 15, 1977, Kathy married James A. Elam Jr. in Muskegon. Kat worked as an LPN at Brookhaven Medical Facility for over 30 years. She enjoyed entertaining, crafting, football (the Lions), cooking and the “Fun Girls”, but foremost was always her family and friends. SURVIVORS include her loving husband, Jim, of 39 years; children, Jordan (Caryn) Elam, Samantha Wolff and Tara (Adam) Zdybel; grandchildren, Samuel, Morgan, Isabella, Elliott and Harrison; siblings, Robert (Sue) Kennert, Ronald (Jeana) Kennert and Linda (Robert) Peterson. Kat is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leda Kennert; and by her sister, Arlene Goryl. A MEMORIAL GATHERING will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 4-6 PM at The Lee Chapel Family Center, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231)798-1100.
