Katie Ann Reed's Obituary
Miss Katie Ann Reed, age 27, lost her battle with spina bifida on Sunday, July 3, 2011 to “walk across the sky with the Lord.” She was born September 13, 1983 in Grants Pass, OR. She was affectionately called “Katie Bug” and was very active in the Spina Bifida Teens Club. She also competed several years in the Special Olympics and was a co-leader for her niece’s Girl Scouts Troop. She enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home as a “sitter” for the older residents. SURVIVORS include her mother, Deanna Baker (Wayne Brown); father, Douglas Reed; sister, Danita (Chris) Cole; very special nieces and nephews, Joshua, Nata’lie, William, Alexis; grandparents, Shirley Schnick and Barbara Reed; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Leonard Schnick; nephew, Tyler James Cole; uncle, Daren Reed; and friend, Jim Shipe, Jr. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 1-2 PM Friday. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, donations may be given to the family, c/o Denise Mead.
