Kay F. (Ayotte) Ferenz's Obituary
Kay F. (Ayotte) Ferenz, age 77, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice following complications of a surgery in October. Kay was born December 4, 1942 in Ishpeming, MI to Edward and Mary (LaCombe) Ayotte and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. She was a graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central High School Class of 1961. Kay married Robert E. “Bob” Ferenz on May 8, 1965 in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2017. Kay worked as a legal secretary for Parmenter, Forsythe, & Rood for many years and later worked as an administrative assistant for Structural Concepts where she retired in 2003. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she and Bob regularly attended Eucharistic Adoration. Kay enjoyed gardening and trips to the casino. She spent much time with her siblings and especially enjoyed traveling with her twin sister, Char. Kay’s greatest love was attending the many extracurricular activities for her loving grandchildren. Survivors include 3 children, Debbie (Glenn) Kendra, Jim (Melissa) Ferenz, Sue (Mark) Langlois; 8 grandchildren, Rachel (Zach Christoffersen) Kendra, Sarah (Cody Bayle) Ferenz, Kyle (fiancé, Lyric Glaser) Kendra, Megan (fiancé, Nazir Jairazbhoy) Kendra, AJ Ferenz, Scott Kendra, Lauren Langlois, Ty Langlois; her brother, Jim (Gwen) Ayotte; her twin sister, Char Wiersma; 2 brothers-in-law, Don (Barb Ruba) Ferenz, Bruce (Janine) Ferenz; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents; sister-in-law, Noreen Ayotte, and brother-in-law, Richard Ferenz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (239 W. Clay Ave.) with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441, where the Scriptural Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 9-10 AM Thursday at the Church. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
