Kenneth Jack Barendse's Obituary
Mr. Kenneth Jack Barendse, age 93, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 in Muskegon, Michigan. Ken was born in Holland, Michigan to Franklin and Alice (Smith) Barendse. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. Ken was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. He spent many years as a crane operator, having worked on the Mackinaw and Cut River Bridge, and retired as a Local 324 Business Representative. Ken was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, and staying active. He is survived by two daughters, Diane (Harold) Meisch and Denise (Michael) Johnson; three grandchildren, Shirley (Kelly) Carlisle, Harold (Ann) Meisch, and Kenneth Barendse; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Barendse; son, Michael Barendse; step-daughter, Deborah Elwell; two brothers and two sisters. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
