Kenneth F. Lawrence's Obituary
Kenneth F. Lawrence, age 84, of Fruitport passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at a care facility in Muskegon. He was born June 27, 1931, in Sheboygan, WI to Fred J. and Florence (Walters) Lawrence. Kenneth married the former Shirley A. Petersen on February 11, 1956, in Muskegon.
Kenneth served his country in Air Force during the Korean War, and was an Honorary Life Member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28. He worked as a conductor for CSX Railroad for 38 years. Kenneth loved golfing, yardwork, crossword puzzle books, the outdoors, and photography. He was also a belly dancer fan, especially of his wife. Kenneth most of all loved his beer, and enjoyed an ice cold “Bud”.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Shirley Lawrence of Grand Haven; two daughters, Darcy Luker of Muskegon and Karla (Jim) Underwood of Granville, OH; his son, Mitchell (Kathryne) Lawrence of Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren: Shane (Heather) Luker, Josiah (Sarah) Luker, Jacob Luker, Rylee Luker, Alyssa Lawrence, Corbin Lawrence, and Paige Underwood; and four great-grandchildren, Cole, Caden, Mia, and Zoey Luker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Evans; his brother, Donald Lawrence; and son-in-law, Tim Luker.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015, at the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 in Grand Haven with Rev. Lydia Meyer officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family after the service. Memorial contributions to the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post # 28 or the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
