Kenneth C. "Ken" Manschesky's Obituary
Kenneth C. “Ken” Manschesky, age 81, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022. He was born on July 29, 1941, to Roland and Gladys (Woodard) Manschesky in Muskegon, MI. Ken remained a lifelong resident of Muskegon. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School class of 1959. Ken was a dedicated employee of Reid Tool, his first and only job that he worked for over 40 years. In his earlier years, Ken’s adventures started in 1959 with his father, Roland, Bruce and Dan driving a Studebaker to Alaska for the entire summer. Then later with his wife to Europe, this adventurism then found its way with his closest friends for the next 40 years, Joe, Dave, Frank, Phil, and Tim to the northern parts of Michigan and Canada hiking, fishing, snowmobiling and camping. His friends were a very dominant part of his life and the center of this friendship revolved around the Lithuanian Club that Ken was a President of for quite a few years. He was a man with a factotum of talents, whether it was woodwork, plumbing, mason work or gardening, he could do it all. Ken was a gifted gardener who took great pride in his flourishing yard, providing endless means of vegetables for himself and donating the surplus. Ken passed this work ethic on to his sons by leading many projects every weekend cutting trees, grass, firewood, mending fences, building sauna structures, raking leaves, digging ditches and building roads on and around his properties. Ken collected properties and all of his properties required maintenance, this love of property and working on them was shared with his sons. The love of spending time working together was Ken and his sons’ bond. Kens daughter, Beth was very special to him and was his council later in life. He spent many days sitting on the deck in Montague with his son-in-law, Dave and Beth reminiscing about the good old days. Ken will genuinely be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Francine) Manschesky and Mark (Vanessa) Manschesky; grandson, Jacob Manschesky; brother, Allan (Mary) Manschesky; son-in-law, Dave (Bonnie) Fleming; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Beth Fleming and Lisa Manschesky; and sister, Cheryl Manschesky. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Restlawn Cemetery, 1400 Kenneth St., Muskegon, MI 49442 with Pastor William Rudd officiating. Arrangements entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
