Kenneth Arnold Montoya's Obituary
Mr. Kenneth Arnold Montoya, age 77, formerly of New Era, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was born at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor, Washington on March 2, 1947 to David and Wilma (Rogers) Montoya. Ken graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1965 and was drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington where he entered into advanced training for Officer Candidate School. He then was stationed in Oklahoma in the 25th Infantry Division serving two years as a lieutenant in the Vietnam War, earning a Silver and Bronze Star. Following his military service, Ken spent 20 years working as a police officer for the Oak Harbor Police Department. After moving to Michigan, Ken spent many years working as a mechanic prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a loving caretaker to his wife for 30 years. On June 9, 1985, Ken married the former Linda Mae Bustinduy and she preceded him in death one month prior to his passing. Ken is survived by three daughters, Terrie (David) Montoya Gayer, Cyndy (Alberto) Smith Penate, and Kimberlee (Jeff) Hooker; seven grandchildren, Kenny, Christina, Rachel, Whitney (Cody), Jaime (Dan), Lyle (Amber), and Kayleigh (James); 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gene (Theresa) Montoya. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Linda; his parents; and brother, Dave Montoya. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
