Kenneth Francis O'Grady's Obituary
Mr. Kenneth Francis O’Grady, age 90, formerly of Saranac, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 in Grand Haven, Michigan. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 15, 1926 to Francis and Loretta (Hart) O’Grady. Ken was a veteran of the United States Marines and had served during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #5065 in Sheridan, MI and the American Legion Post #182 in Hubbardston, MI. He was employed as a guard for the Michigan Department of Corrections prior to his retirement. On November 1, 1974, Ken married the former Mattie Lee Parkis in Stanton, MI and she survives him along with one son, Michael Ray (Beverly) Lake; daughter-in-law, Jackie Lake; grandchildren: Charles (Anne) Lake, Tony Lake, Joe Lake, Angela Lake, Michelle (Nathan) Hancock and Jessica (Jeremy) Shull; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one son, Glenn Lake, his parents and one brother, Clifford O’Grady. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at The VanZantwick Chapel, (620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417. 616-842-6100.) VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Kenneth may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
