Kenneth O. "Ken" Wilkerson's Obituary
Kenneth O. “Ken” Wilkerson, age 88, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, in Muskegon. He was born on June 6, 1934, to Homer and Bertha (Sowles) Wilkerson in Ellison Township, IL and soon after made his way to Muskegon, MI. Ken graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1952. He was a proud veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a dedicated employee of Automatic Spring Co. working as a machine operator before retiring in 1994. Ken was an avid outdoorsman spending his time doing what he loved, hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed spending his time on the track drag racing. Ken was known for being a man’s man, strong-willed, proud and independent. His determined spirit was balanced just right with his one-of-a-kind personality. Ken will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his three daughters, Valerie Cox, Dawn (William) Wydeck and Henrietta (Jason) Daldos; 13 grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) Cox, David (Alicia) Cox, Stacey Bowman, Koriey Szczesny, Deeana Szczesny, Jenece Gomori, Holly Wydeck, Anthony Petty, Joseph (Mary) Petty, Nikki Kary, Active Duty Mitchell (Casey) Staelens, Ryan Plumhoff and Jacob Wiggins; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Wilkerson and Dan (Joyce) Wilkerson; two sisters, Marilyn Eek and Cindy Currier; and son-in-law, Rick Kary. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Robbin Wilkerson and Sandy Kary; brother, Jack Wilkerson, sister, Cookie (Gene) Gabris; and sister-in-law, Joan Wilkerson. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 6, 2023. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
