Mr. Kenneth "Ken" Witt's Obituary
Mr. Kenneth W. “Ken” Witt, 67, passed away early Thursday morning, January 25, 2018. He was born February 25, 1950 to John E. and Tillie (Van’tSlot) Witt in Des Moines, Iowa, and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. Ken graduated from Calvin College in 1971 with a degree in History. He sold furniture; first at McMahan’s in Lodi, California and then at VanderVelde’s in both Grand Haven and Muskegon Michigan. He retired in 2010 from Art Van Furniture. He was a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church where he served as the custodian for over 20 years. On August 4, 1973 Ken married Kathryn L. “Cathy” Kredit. He will be missed dearly by his entire family; his wife, Cathy; their 3 children, Amanda (Jared) VanZwaluwenburg, Megan (Michael) VanderLaan, Jared (Ashley) Witt; 5 grandchildren, Jeff, Brendan, Owen, Kyle and Kennedy; his mother, Tillie Witt; brothers and sisters, Sherry (Dan) Oegema, Larry (Laurie) Witt, Rick Witt, Mary (David) Workman; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Witt.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 30, at the Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Ave., with Rev. Benjamin Oliveira officiating. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. Visitation at the Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 will be from 4-7 PM Monday, January 29.
