Kenneth A. Kuipers' Obituary
Mr. Kenneth A. “Ken” Kuipers, age 80, passed away Monday, December 12, 2005. He was born January 23, 1925 in Muskegon to Andrew and Trina (VanDyke) Kuipers and lived most of his life in the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII. He first married the former Marie Shopshear and she preceded him in death in 1961. He later married the former Margaret Shopshear and she preceded him in death in 1985. Prior to his retirement in 1983, Ken worked 40 years as a tool maker for Teledyne Continental Motors. He enjoyed photography, golfing and bowling. He was a member of Faith Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include 9 children, Dennis (Patti) Kuipers of Holly, MI, Marcia (Larry) Pearce, Tom (Vicki) Kuipers, Nadine (Chris) Johnson, John (Clara) Kuipers, Sharon (Dave) Strong, Ron Pack, Keith (Kelli) Kuipers all of Muskegon, Brian (Tammy) Kuipers of Greenville, MI; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 nephew and 1 niece. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Jean Hilliard in 2004; and a special friend, Fran McDermid. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. INTERMENT will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with veteran’s rites afforded by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION with Ken’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday.
