Hi Aunt Shirley and Kathy,
I was saddened to hear of Uncle Ken's passing. I read the other entry in the guest book and they mentioned how one person can make you smile just by seeing them. Uncle Ken was that way for me! Sure, I wanted to call and express myself over the phone to you...but, this allows me to make sure I say everything that I want to say, and I'll probably still call anyway when things settle down a bit. First of all, some of my earliest childhood memories are of your house, the "hoobie-haw" stories, and of course the cereal box cupboard! Next, as I got older, I remember the "competitive" wiffle ball games with Uncle Ken and him taking me golfing with him when he holed a shot about 75 yards out...I told him it went into the cup, and he looked at me like "crazy kid...what the hell you talking about!" Sure enough, it went into the cup and he just couldn't believe it, and was probably a little bummed that he didn't see it go in! I also remember him and Uncle Lindey smoking cigs on the way to a Tiger game...Mike and my eyes were watering terribly, but it was great to go to the Tiger game! On a serious note, I'll never forget how much you both helped my Mother after my Dad died. I was too young at the time to understand everything, but you both were there when my Mother needed you most. I'll always love you two for doing that. When I looked at Uncle Ken's photo on this website the first thing I did was smile, and then good memories just flooded my mind. He was a good man, uncle and Godfather and I will miss him. I hope all is well as can be with you and Kathy! Love Howard##imported-begin##Howard Bakke##imported-end##
