Kenneth R. Chaney's Obituary
Mr. Kenneth R. Chaney, age 93, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Poppen Hospice Residence. Mr. Chaney was born April 14, 1916 to Arthur R. and Helen (Barney) Chaney in Muskegon and was a life resident of the area. He married the former Gertrude Peterman and she preceded him in death in 1982. He then married Ruth Schiller Sibary in 1985 and she survives him. Mr. Chaney was employed as a purchasing manager for Dresser Industries for many years, retiring in 1981. He was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was affiliated with Prince of Peace and St. Thomas Parish, where he formerly served as a lay minister. Ken was also a member of Dads of VFW #177 of the Don Rea Post, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Along with his loving wife of 24 years, Ruth Chaney, Ken is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Wilde of Sarasota, FL; 4 step-children, David (Diane) Sibary, Richard (Denise) Sibary, Judith (David) Freye, and Mary Lou Allen, all of Muskegon; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; daughter-in-law, Sandra Chaney of Nashotah, WI and many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth A. Chaney; daughter, Carol J. Lapomarda; brothers, Raymond J. and John B. Chaney. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1110 Dykstra Rd.) with Rev. Fr. Philip Sliwinski presiding.
