Kim Mulder's Obituary
Kim Mulder, age 56, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. She was born on June 12, 1969, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at Blodgett Memorial Hospital. Until the very end, Kim maintained her kindness, grace, and compassion, along with a deep love for her family and friends, and she expressed gratitude for a life filled with wonder and varied experiences. Kim graduated from Fruitport High School and Muskegon Community College. She was a real estate broker who owned her own business, Élan Realty. She also worked in the finance department at SERVPRO of Muskegon and was a part-owner of their franchises. On June 7, 2008, she married Randy Mulder in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Kim enjoyed spending time on their boat in Spring Lake, traveling to new places, and sharing a special bond with her beloved dog, Stella. She loved being with her many friends and was an avid Michigan State sports fan. Survivors include her loving husband, Randy Mulder; three children, Cortney (Ryan) VanVels, Stacey (Andrew) VanEck, and Megan (Jeremy) Kwant; and her grandchildren, Chase VanVels, Tanner VanVels, Saylor VanEck, Bo VanEck, Jay Kwant, Rocky Kwant, and Louie Kwant. She is also survived by her father, James Bright of Chicago; her mother, Nancy Dobry of Grand Rapids; her mother-in-law Bonnie Houtstra of Grand Rapids, MI; and her brothers and sisters: Tom (Dorsey) Dobry of Reno, Nevada; Sue (Tim) Palmisano of Lake Bellaire, Michigan; Kristie (Robert) Buchholz; Marva (John) Schepers; Sharon (Dan) Ellis; Tamie (Jeff) DeWitte; and Doug (Jackie) Houtstra. Additional survivors include her nieces and nephews: Kody (Julie) Alber, Jaret (Ari) Alber, Katie (Trent) Hockemeyer, Anna Palmisano, McKenzie Palmisano, Alex Dobry, Sophia Dobry, Marissa Dobry, and many Mulder nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Dad, Jerry Dobry. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2026 at All Shores Wesleyan Church, 15550 Cleveland Street, Spring Lake, MI 49456, with Rev. Robert Bierenga officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday, January 29, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444.
