Kristin Lynn Laug's Obituary
Kristin Lynn Laug, age 54, of Spring Lake passed away early Monday, June 15, 2009, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with breast cancer that began in July 2007. She was born January 18, 1955, in Grand Haven to Lawrence and Ruth (Vanderzwaag) Schmitt, and she married Ryan R. Laug on April 29, 1978, in Grand Haven.
Kristin was a 1973 graduate of Grand Haven High School and a member of Spring Lake Wesleyan Church. She was an avid supporter of Spring Lake High School tennis, and she enjoyed traveling, painting, and taking walks.
Kristin will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Ryan; her two sons, Eric Laug and Shawn Laug; her parents, Ruth and Lawrence Schmitt; her mother- and father-in-law, Freda and Roger Laug; three brothers: Joel (Shirley) Schmitt, Larry (friend Rita) Schmitt, and Stewart (Sandy) Schmitt; two sisters-in-law, Lori (Dale) Lieffers and Janie (Vince) Duca; and many nieces and nephews.
The service celebrating Kristin’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Spring Lake Wesleyan Church with Pastor Peter Yoshonis officiating. Friends may meet the family 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Memorial contributions in honor of Kristin may be made to the Charles A. Bassett Endowed Scholarship Fund c/o the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
