L. Duane Ford's Obituary
Mr. Leon “Duane” Ford, age 78, died at his home on Sunday, September 14, 2014. He was born May 9, 1936 in Bitely to Leon and Sylvia (Traxler) Ford; and then moved to the Muskegon Area from 1954-1998 before moving back to Bitely. Duane was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 11th Airborne. He was a self-employed farmer and carpenter and was a member of St. Ann’s Church of Baldwin. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. On May 11, 1957 he married the former Linda Brandt and she survives him along with 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Lloyd (Alice) Ford of Grand Rapids, Mary (Jerry) Anderson, Frances (Dan) Nelson, Luree (Lloyd) Huth and Jeffrey Ford all of Bitely; his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Houseman of Muskegon. Duane was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Janet Lord. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at St. Ann’s Church, 1001 Michigan Ave, Baldwin, MI 49304, with the Rev. Fr. Ron Schneider presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Muskegon. VISITATION with Duane’s family will be 6-8:00 PM Tuesday (tonight) at The Sytsema Chapel; and one-hour prior to the Mass at church on Wednesday.
