I was an Elder at the Milford, Ct Presbyterian Church and was on the committee that called Laird to the pulpit.
He married me and my wife Angelika in 1970. He was a faithful servant of the Lord.

We only heard of Laird’s passing now as we attended the Memorial Service for Bill Evans. Laird was very special to us. He baptized both our children, Anne and Daniel. His sermons, masterful yet so simple, spoke to us many many times. Anne is now a Music Director at a church and having seen so many ministers following her journey, we always came to reference Laird as the gold standard. We are so sorry for your loss. Laird was a giant among men. Thank you for sharing him with us. Jeff and Lisa Carper
Dear Ginny,
Now in retirement, I too am among those who have only learned of Laird's passing. I give thanks to God for the gift of his life and for his gracious and thoughtful leadership. It was always a delight to be with him in Princeton at meetings of the Board of Trustees. The Seminary was fortunate to have his wise counsel on those occasions. May the God of All Comfort sustain you and yours in the days ahead.
Most sincerely,
Jim Kay

Dear Ginny and family, I only heard of Laird's passing this weekend from Bruce Reyes Chow here in Arkansas. I want to express to you my profound gratitude for Laird and the wise counsel, encouraging support, and kind friendship he showed me as Chair of the Board of Trustees, and later as my successor as interim President at San Francisco Theological Seminary. As you well know, Laird was a consistently kind, gracious, supportive presence; a wise counselor; an empathetic listener, and one of those rare leaders who is committed and able to draw people from divergent perspectives together around common priorities and a shared vision. He was always a personal strength and counselor for me during our shared leadership of the seminary in very precarious times, often shining a fresh light on a difficult situation, but never imposing his own perspective in a way that might minimize my role or responsibility. I don't know the circumstances of his passing, but I do know that our God of grace has received him into the arms of the divine mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Thank you for so generously sharing him and yourselves with my wife Jan and me during our time together serving God and the Presbyterian Church in San Francisco.
My family moved to Millburn from St. Louis in February of my junior year in HS. Laird was one of the first to welcome me and get me acquainted around the school ! My prayers and condolences to his family ! Jim Greber
We just learned of Laird's death and want to express our deepest sympathy to Ginny and family as you grieve and celebrate his life. So glad we were able to get to know him and always enjoyed our conversations, sharing the Jimmy Carter book and the sermons he preached at First Congregational Church Saugatuck.
Blessings,
Graham and Sylvia
