Larry Joseph Belmonte's Obituary
Mr. Larry Joseph Belmonte, age 64, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his home in Battle Creek. He was born January 5, 1949 in Muskegon, MI to Sam E. and Cora J. (Timmons) Belmonte, Jr. and lived in the Battle Creek area most of his life. On August 4, 1970, he married the former El Jean L. Brueback in Dillon, SC, and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2010. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Larry was employed as a transmission tech specialist for Eaton Corp. and later worked 15 years as an estimator for Battle Creek Tent & Awning. He retired in 2011 when he was granted 100% disability resulting from his service in the Vietnam War. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, fishing and especially U of M football and Tigers baseball. SURVIVORS include his 2 children, Leslie (Todd) Elliott of Battle Creek, Joseph (Rose Ketcham) of Holly; 3 grandchildren, Josh Paul, Alex and Emma Elliott; 1 brother, Sam E. (Charlene) Belmonte III of Fruitport; 3 sisters, Frances Duplissis of Muskegon, Rosemary (John) Bench of Spring Lake, Kristyne (Anthony) Barr of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Gini Belmonte of Fruitport; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, John B. Belmonte, and 1 brother-in-law, William Duplissis. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. INTERMENT will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
