Larry Lee Dews' Obituary
Larry Lee Dews, age 71, of Spring Lake passed away on Friday, November 01, 2013 at a local care facility. He was born on October 14, 1942 in Muncie, Indiana to Kelly and Angia (Williams) Dews. Larry married the former Susan Kay Wilson on April 20, 1963 in Napoleon, Ohio.
Larry was a college graduate of Purdue University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Lorin Industries as a Chemical engineer for fifteen years. He also owned his own business where he became known as “the clock doctor.” Larry was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed playing bridge and chess. He also enjoyed viewing the “Big 10 Network.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susan; daughters, Sherry (Joe) Schoemaker of Fruitport and Dawn (Jeff) Duthler of Grand Haven; son, Brien (Sara) Dews of Rockford; and nine grandchildren: Wesley, Brandon, Elly, Kyle, Keagan, Audrey, Heather, Lindsey and Brady. He was preceded by 2 sisters, Frances and Norma; and 2 brothers, Clyde and Don.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Spring Lake Wesleyan Church with Pastor Thad Spring officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
