Larry N. Jeffery's Obituary
Mr. Larry N. Jeffery, age 75, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at home. He was born June 25, 1943 in East Grand Rapids to Leslie and Doris (Clarke) Jeffery. On September 22, 1967 he married Marna Peterson in Grand Haven.
Larry graduated from Grand Haven Public High School and Muskegon Community College and retired from GTE/Verizon in 1992. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes and served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed flying his radio-controlled gliders with several model aircraft groups in West Michigan. He was a member of The League of Silent Flight and the West Michigan Soaring Society where he held many offices and a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Larry and Marna enjoyed traveling and being snow birds in Florida and Arizona for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marna; two daughters, Dawn (Eric) Scott of Grand Haven, Heather (Jason) Ring of Norton Shores; six grandchildren: Jacob, and Trevor Larkins, Morgan Yost, Abel Scott, Kelsey, and Ethan Ring. Two sisters, Shirley Hanson, and Ellen Jeffery; sisters-in-law, Beth (Ken) VanProoyen, Lora (Steve) Schwarzer; extended family, Chris Bethke; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie; mother and step-dad, Doris and F.R. McCaleb; nephew, Craig “Buzz” Hanson; faithful canine companions, Bear and Sadie.
A memorial service will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Louis Grettenberger officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday, January 4, 2018 at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave). Memorial contributions in memory of Larry may be given to the United Methodist Church of the Dunes or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
