Larry Lee Mock's Obituary
Larry Lee Mock, age 73, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born June 2, 1951, in Grand Haven, MI to Lester and Betty (Hudson) Mock and had resided in Florida and Kentucky for many years until moving back to Muskegon. Larry was a proud U.S. Marine Corp Veteran and served his country as a sniper during Vietnam, receiving three Purple Hearts during his service. He worked his entire life as a logger and roofer until his health forced his retirement. On November 2, 1996, he married Patricia Ann “Patti” Schumacher in Nelsonville, OH and she survives him. While living in Silver Springs, Florida, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and at one time belonged to the Viet Nam Vets Motorcycle Club. He was very sociable and loved to party with friends and family. One of his favorite spots to do this was in his garage bar in Kentucky called “Larry’s Place”. Larry will be sadly missed by all who knew him. SURVIVORS include his wife, Patti; three children: James “Jamie” (Erin) Mock of Twin Lake, Nicholas “Ick” (Randi) Mock of Holton, and Stefani “Misfit” Mock of Twin Lake; 11 grandchildren: Isaac (Jurnee Sulak) Mock, Olivia (Steve) Mixter, Kaitlynn (Barry) Hoffmeyer, Caitlyn Giddings, Miranda Mock, Riley Legard, Airman First Class Ethan Legard, Ryan Legard, Peyton Mock, Presley Mock, and Ryder Mock; six great-grandchildren: Oliver Mock, Micah Hoffmeyer, Jenson Hoffmeyer, Oaklee Mock, Hadley Hoffmeyer, and Lucas Mixter; brother, Terry (Sue) Mock of Lake Odessa, MI; sister, Christine (James) Kirchner of Fountain, MI; sister-in-law, Sandy (Larry) Hoogstraat of Lugoff, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and many, many, friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Bushman. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Whitehall American Legion (803 E. Colby St., Whitehall, MI 49461) with full Military Honors performed at 2:30 PM. MEMORIALS to the Wounded Warrior Project will be appreciated.
