Mr. Larry Robert Rottman, 71, passed away early Friday morning, August 16, 2019, in Muskegon, with his loving wife, Kelley, at his side. Larry was born May 20, 1948 to Robert and Wilma (VanderMey) Rottman in Muskegon, and lived his life here. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and purchased Midwest Real Estate Services, Inc. in 1973 through his former employer Federal Savings. He was passionate about his profession. He received his Senior Residential Appraisal designation through the Appraisal Institute, and was also a Real Estate Broker. He was a graduate of Western Michigan University and was proud of being a SIG through MCC. He was a gifted and talented businessman who faithfully read the Wall Street Journal every night. He was a U.S. Army veteran, loved politics, boating, beaches, being on the water, gardening, music and just being outdoors. Larry had a sense of kindness and empathy for others. He loved to tell jokes and make people smile. He was very giving, clever, intelligent, insightful, wise and knowledgeable. Larry valued his lifelong commitment to his dear circle of friends, and was a friend to everyone. On March 30, 1993 he married the love of his life, Kelley Piasecki, and she survives him along with 4 siblings: Joni Shinn, Craig (Lori) Rottman, Jackie (Ken) Systma, Bruce (Elaine) Rottman; mother-in-law, Janet K. Frantz and her husband Wally; sisters-in-law, Holly Piasecki, Shawna (Bobby) Appleton; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Larry loved animals his entire life and they were fortunate when he and Kelley adopted them. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Blu and his cat, Khloe. A service to remember and celebrate Larry’s life will be held at their home on Mona Lake, 107 Lakeshore Blvd, Norton Shores, on Saturday, August 24, beginning at 2:00 PM. Transportation will be provided from Mona Lake Park to the house. The service will be followed by a luncheon and a time of fellowship at the house. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation. Larry enjoyed being referred to as Lorenzo, and his final toast is: “May all your joy be true joy, and all your pain be Champagne”. --Dear Friends:
If you are planning to attend Larry's memorial, please plan on arriving to Mona Lake Park between 1:15 and 1:30 so we may transport you to the house and begin at 2:00.
Also, there was an oversight on our behalf in the obituary: because of Larry's passion for animals, in lieu of flowers, please also consider donating to Noah's Project or the Ottawa County Harbor Humane Society.
Thank you from Kelley and our entire family for the outpouring of support during this time.
