Larry J. Sechen's Obituary
Larry J. Sechen, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born on November 25, 1950 to Edward and Shirley (Anderson) Sechen in Muskegon. Larry had attended St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Church in Grand Haven. Prior to retiring in 1996, he worked as a supervisor at SPX–Hi-Lift. Larry was a member of the Knights of Columbus to the third degree. He was an avid sports fan who remembered statistics and games from long ago. His favorite teams included the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan. Larry was extremely passionate about the game of hockey and started playing at the age of six. On June 28, 1980 he married Debra Habetler and she survives him along with 2 sons, Grant Sechen and Charles Sechen; mother, Shirley Sechen; brother, Gary (Wynn Miller) Sechen and sister, Nancy (Forrest) Hainline III. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; sister, Susan Sechen and mother and father-in-law, Chas “Mike” and Paula Habetler. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. William Langlois presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 5 -7 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with the Rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider American Heart Association or the St. Patrick-St. Anthony Capital Campaign. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
