Mr. Larry J. Steele's Obituary
Mr. Larry James Steele was born November 26, 1944, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the second of seven siblings to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Bernice (Paige) Steele. Larry departed this earth on June 12, 2021, in Muskegon, Michigan.
Larry was baptized at Greater Harvest Baptist Church in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. He attended Phillips Elementary School in Muskegon Heights, Michigan and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1962. After high school Larry joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Chaffee Army Base in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he was a Dental Assistant. Upon returning to Muskegon he continued his education at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, he also attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he majored in Business Management.
Larry worked as a Salesman with Pitney Bowes, IBM and Olivetti. He won several awards and certificates for being "Top Salesman." Larry was also employed with Friendly Motors in Muskegon, Michigan as well as Muskegon County Road Commission.
Larry was a social butterfly wherever he went he would always say "If I leave this world today, I've enjoyed my life on this earth."
Larry was married to the former Carolyn Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Anita Steele-Jackson of Flowood, Mississippi; Fonia (Frederick) Williams of Keller, Texas and Leesha (Terry) Jonas of Fruitport, Michigan. Six grandchildren: Joseph, Mikaela, Tyra, Kendal, Caleb and Nijah. Larry is also survived by two brothers Robert L. Steele (Jacquelyn Copeland-Steele) and Gerald Steele both of Muskegon, Michigan. Three sisters-in-law: Catherine Louise Steele, Marietta, Georgia; Ethel Steele, Wilmington, Delaware; Sherry Steele, Muskegon, Michigan; one brother-in-law Mr. Kenneth Johnson, Indianapolis, Indiana, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Deloris Johnson, Tommy A. Steele, Donald L. Steele, and Charles B. Steele.
While Larry's departed this earth, his impact on his family and friends will never be forgotten.
